The top 2 teams in Division 1 are usually promoted to Premier League, while the last 2 teams in Premier are relegated to Division 1.
Play-offs
Owing to the interest and competitive nature of the league, and in response to modern trends, the league Championship is decided through a series of matches called Play-offs. After the regular season matches, the top eight teams in each category qualify for the play-offs.
The play-offs consist of two rounds. In the first round, teams play best of 3 series while in the second round teams play best of 5 series to determine the winner. The winning team is given an opportunity to represent the country in regional and continental competitions under the auspices of our parent African body.
In KNBL, we have a team of 35 qualified and experienced technical officials, including 3 International referees. The regular league matches are played in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kakamega and Nakuru.
